The Visiting Students Program, offered by the Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program, is an intensive 6 months research experience which consists in a cultural immersion for talented master students.
The Visiting Students Program builds up on the success of the Undergraduate Internship Program initiated in 2014 that counted with the participation of 39 students.

The main goal of the Visiting Students Program is to provide high-quality research opportunities, offering master students the possibility of developing their knowledge and skills as researchers, while opening perspectives for career opportunities in cutting-edge fields of Information and Communication Technologies.
Applicants have the opportunity to spend the second semester of their Master´s thesis year at CMU doing full-time research and this way participate in state-of-the-art research projects, interact with prominent research teams, and be mentored by leading faculty and researchers at CMU.
The candidates admitted to the Visiting Students Program will receive an FCT Mobility Scholarship to cover living expenses during their stay. The financial support will be available from 2 to 6 months.
The CMU Portugal Program will also support the travel expenses to and from Pittsburgh, all the other expenditures for accommodation, meals and transportation will be made directly by the recipient of the mobility scholarship and will not be covered by the Program.
Health insurance is mandatory at CMU, and will be covered by the CMU Portugal Program, up to a reasonable amount and in a case by case basis.
At the end of the Program, the student will be required to submit a one-page report describing the activity developed during that period.
