Maria Madalena Alves is a Full Professor with a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Minho (UMinho). She was the head of the Centre of Biological Engineering from January 2020 until July 1, 2022, when she took office as President of the FCT. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto and a master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico.
